Singing should be speech-like, effortless and natural. It should not be difficult at all. Nonetheless, a lot of people struggle when it comes to reach the high notes.

Today I'm gonna give you a few tips to reach those high notes easily and beautifully.

1.- Relaxation of your body: A lot of people ask "why is it so important to be relaxed?”

Relaxation is a very important matter when we are preparing ourselves to sing. In order to find that beautiful and effortless sound we are looking for, it is necessary to lose every kind of tension accumulated in our muscles.

The voice is an organic instrument and it is not only coming out of our mouth, all of our body interferes and participates when we are singing. Therefore there's gotta be no sign of stress and no tight muscles at all.

2.- Breath support: Breathing is the foundation of singing. The quality of our voice depends almost completely of our breath support.

3.- Correct singing posture: Breathing is the foundation of singing and posture is the foundation of breathing. Having a correct singing posture makes it easier for sound to be produced.

4.- Finding the right Voice placement: The voice like all acoustic instruments such as the guitar, trumpet and piano; has its own special chambers for resonating the tone. Resonance is where your voice echoes on your body. The various resonances can represent vocal colors through the open resonating chambers. From chest voice to head voice.

- Chest voice: The chest voice resonates in the chest and oral cavity and it’s primarily used to sing low notes. Even though this doesn’t mean we can’t sing high notes using our chest voice. It works well for certain styles but not for all of them.

-Head voice: The head voice resonates in the sinus cavities and it’s primarily used to sing high notes. Nonetheless, when we sing all of the high notes using just our head voice makes our voice sound weak and very light.

In order to reach those high notes with strength and without squeezing out our voice we need to be conscious to find the right voice placement: "The mask resonator = Mixed Voice"

Your nasal cavity which includes teeth, lips and upper pharynx is commonly known as “The mask resonator”

-Mixed Voice: It's a Blend that combines your chest voice and your head voice, and connects the bridge between the registers. It’s a solid connection that makes our voice sound powerful and bright.

5.- Don't be afraid of the high notes: Prepare yourself mentally and physically and practice every day.

Practice, practice and practice some more. Experiment with your voice and have fun!

Have a lovely day!
